Behaviorist Thoery and Technology

The instructional strategies inthis weeks resources promote my beleifs on behaviorist learning theory. I may have been viewing the resources without an open mind but I do feel that it demonstarted a time and place for behaviorism in the classroom. If we ignore the nuts and bolts in learning and jump right to the final project we lose a lot of the details that make the project great.

  1. I agree with your post Nate.
We need to remember the essential skills before moving kids on to the bigger task. I know in our elementary school the teachers who teach the upper grades get so frustrated that their students come into their classes not knowing their basic math facts. This limits the teachers and stops them from teaching new math skills which will prepare them for middle school. That is what I like about the behaviorism learning theory.

  2. It is pretty obvious that there was a reason we are studying behaviorist theory first, because it is so important as a tool for building the foundations of learning and classroom management. It seems right now that everyone feels pretty good about behaviorist learning methods. We all seem just a little bit old school, myself included. I wonder if as the class goes along we will all stick to our guns on the use of behaviorist theories and mixing it with technology, which is the real focus of the class. As for now, I completely agree with you Nate!
